We know not everyone wants to spend the entire time around the campfire, in the hot tub, or around the lake. Let us suggest a few "must see" things to do while you are visiting this part of East Texas. We have choices ranging from trying some of our world famous Pittsburg Hot Links or authentic Texas wine, to seeing our acclaimed first flying machine at the Texas Rural Heritage Museum. The kids can enjoy multiple splash pads or Disc Golf in the area. You can also go offroad and take your Jeep/dirtbike/mountain bike offroad on some great trails or swing your clubs at a local golf course. Check out our list below and pick out a few things that will fit your time and interests!

  • Northeast Texas Rural Heritage Museum
If you only have one day in Pittsburg the Northeast Texas Rural Heritage Museum is a "must see". They have a life sized replica of one of the very first flying machines and its fantastic story. • Efurd Orchards
The next thing you should do is head over to Efurd Orchards and try your hand at picking some fresh strawberries or blueberries if you are here in the spring. If you are in the fall, go check out their huge selection of pumpkins. They also carry other locally grown farmers market produce, canned jellies, and more! Efurd Orchard is typically closed from November to April.

  • Lake Bob Sandlin State Park
Pittsburg is an amazing town for experiencing outdoor activities. If you love nature and being outdoors, let us suggest Lake Bob Sandlin State Park. Lake Bob Sandlin is one of Texas's Best Kept Secrets. This lakeside park offers fun on water and land. Swim, fish, paddle, and boat on the 9,000-acre lake. Or picnic, hike the 3.3 mile hiking trail, camp, geocache, mountain bike and nature watch under the trees. Visit in autumn to see spectacular fall foliage. The park loans fishing poles and rents kayaks for use in the park and you do not need a fishing license to fish from shore or pier in a state park (you will need a license to fish from a boat). While Dad and the kids are hiking and fishing, Mom can browse the gift shop at the front office to find the perfect souvenir. The gift shop has clothes, snacks and souvenirs for all ages.

  • Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards

This is a favorite destination of ours and we especially enjoy their patio with live music.

  • Zepeda Vineyard & Winery
Open Saturdays (and by appointment on Fridays), this small winery features red and white muscadine wine. Swing by the tasting room and enjoy a glass of their wine or a refreshing sangria while taking in the beautiful scenery. They also offer picking of grapes at cuertain times during the season (usually September).
